The Renaissance consists of 59 large suites in a 3-storey building that was originally built in 1963 as a multi-family apartment building.  In 1998, the building was redesigned for its present purpose and given a complete upgrade.  There is over one acre of grounds area from the circular drive and landscaped areas of the front yard; the deck, water fountain, rose garden and visitor parking area in the courtyard; to the open and covered resident parking and landscaped area at the rear of the building.

The building amenities include an 86 seat, 1800 square foot dining room that extends from the front of the building facing Esquimalt Road to the patio deck in the courtyard.  The library lounge and the billiard room are adjacent the dining room and also open to the courtyard deck.  Next to Diningroomthe billiard room is the Guest Suite.  The guest suite is available to residents’ visitors at a nominal fee of $55 per night (including breakfast).  Just off the courtyard lobby is the mailroom and hair salon.  The mail is delivered daily around lunchtime.  The hair salon is open every Tuesday for men and women.

Services included in the rent, are the evening meal (dinner), housekeeping, utilities, activities and entertainment and an emergency response system.

Dinner is a fully served meal prepared daily by our chef, Hernando.  The meal begins with a Hernandochoice of soup or salad both freshly made that afternoon.  There are always two choices for the main course.  Residents are provided each week’s menu in advance and can request an omelet or cold plate as another alternative.  The dessert varies each day from cake to pies and ice cream to yogurt.

Our housekeepers come into the suites once a week to wash, clean and vacuum.  Bed linens and towels are laundered, the kitchen and bathroom are cleaned, carpets are vacuumed and the furniture is dusted.  Each suite cleaning is customized to the wishes of the resident.

All utilities are included in the rent.  Heat is provided by a large gas fired boiler that heats and circulates hot water to baseboard heaters in the suite.  Each suite has its own thermostatic control in the living room.  The cablevision provided by Shaw includes all 3-tiers, which accesses more than 60 channels.

During the year The Renaissance has 12 special dinners where the chef features new and extraordinary cuisine.  Wine is usually served at these dinners to compliment the rich flavours.  The activities include an annual shuffleboard tournament, an annual cribbage tournament, checkers, bocce, exercise classes and bus outings.  Entertainment consists of musical guests who play our grand piano, slide presentations, book readings, plays performed in the dining room, trips to the IMAX and a Christmas wine & cheese tasting afternoon.

Additional services are available on a fee-for-service basis.  Breakfast and lunch are served daily.  Breakfast consists of six types of fresh seasonal fruit, cereal, toast, muffins, tea, coffee and/or fruit juice.  Breakfast costs $60 per month.  Lunch is similar to dinner, a fully served meal prepared daily by our chef.  Sandwiches are served.  Lunch costs $120 per month.

Tray service is always available when residents want their meal delivered to their suite. Sun Deck

The Renaissance encourages residents to invite friends and family for lunch and/or dinner.  Guest meals are $8 for lunch and $13 for dinner.  Special dinners are $19.

Catering for special events such as birthday parties and wedding anniversaries can easily be arranged and customized to your needs.
